The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has announced the election of Gensler design director Bill Bouchey to serve as 2026-2027 president of the IIDA’s international board of directors. Mike Johnson II, associate principal and director of interiors for Hickok Cole, was elected as IIDA president-elect as well. Elected to new terms as vice president are Christina Gonano, professor of interior design at the Savannah College of Art and Design; Jennifer C. Graham, Perkins&Will managing principal; and Natalie Hartkopf, CEO of Hightower Group. All international board members will be officially inaugurated during the IIDA Annual Meeting on Sunday June 7th at The Mart in Chicago. “We are privileged to have such a smart and talented group of professionals on IIDA’s board of directors, and deeply appreciate their service to the practice of design,” says IIDA executive vice president and CEO Cheryl S. Durst. “Bill’s design vision has truly shaped our understanding of the modern workplace, placing human experience at its core. With decades of leadership in commercial interior design, he is an exceptional and highly deserving choice as board president.”
Bouchey brings forth more than 30 years of experience in commercial interior design to his new leadership role. He has also volunteered with IIDA for more than 15 years in programs aiding emerging talent, from panels to mentorship to portfolio workshops. A licensed architect and interior designer, Johnson previously served as vice president of the IIDA’s international board of directors as well as president of the IIDA’s Mid-Atlantic chapter, where he co-founded the Mid-Atlantic Chapters leadership development program.
