Opposite extremes define the new Madrid hub for creative consultancy Jungle. Located in the Méndez Álvaro section of the Spanish capital, the design by YYPLUSPLUS explores how architecture can intensify the meaning of a space without sacrificing function. Heralding arrivals is a new flagship store showcasing exclusive products. “We were interested in formats where the act of searching is as valuable as the product itself,” YYPLUSPLUS founders Óscar Sánchez and César Cañadas tell Workplace Design. “Alongside retail, the corporate workplace became a key reference. The project draws from its familiar architectural language and overlays it with the logic of browsing, producing a hybrid between office reception, showroom and store.”

Anchored by a central monolith serving as a reception desk and display island, the boutique space highlights merchandise—from textiles to a prestressed concrete bench—in custom diskettes inspired by the floppy disk. Beyond the flagship, a new research and development workshop is crafted to promote creative exploration, technical experimentation, and material prototyping. A mobile system of rail-mounted whiteboard panels spans the workspace, allowing for easy reconfiguration to suit the Jungle team’s creative needs.

In contrast to the sleek sterility of the sundrenched workshop, a vibrant orange room serves as a comfortable space for idea generation. High-density orange carpeting and upholstery wrap the room, complementing and offsetting the main area’s blue-gray hue. The operational workshop is designed to expand the team’s creative capacity, lined with high-impact vinyl flooring and nine workstations facing an expanse of storage systems. A central scissor lift table is outfitted with a custom, adjustable stainless steel surface top as well.
