Locally based Anna Makukha Studio has unveiled its design of the Di Energy office inside a Kyiv new-build. Overlooking the Dnipro River in the Darnytskyi district, the engineering firm is defined by a restrained aesthetic free from visual noise, inspiring concentrated intellectual workflows across an open layout. “The design draws directly from the materials and systems the team engages with every day—concrete, metal, and exposed structural elements—reinterpreted through an industrial lens,” Anna Makukha tells Workplace Design. “At the same time, it was important to temper this rigor with a sense of comfort. Principles of Scandinavian design—light, air, a neutral palette, and tactile textures—were introduced to soften the environment and make it more human-centered.”
Spanning nearly 970 square feet, the workplace accommodates the small team across open workspaces and dedicated workrooms. The space also serves as a showroom for the company’s engineering systems, set against a backdrop of pipes and heat pumps integrated throughout the design. A full-scale boiler room mockup is even a fixture of the onsite meeting room. Spaces are unified by a monochrome palette of gray and cool metal tones accented by deep black veneer panels and subtle, warm wood.
Softening the industrial flair is a medley of laconic furniture, including an oval table, lightweight upholstered chairs, a linear pendant light, and semi-transparent curtains that reinforce transparency. “The clarity of geometry and simplicity of forms reference modernism, where every decision is guided by function and logic,” Makukha adds. “The result is an interior stripped of excess, where each element contributes to a clear sense of order, efficiency, and precision—reflecting the company’s technological and rational character.”
