Lisbon-based firm SNOB Architects has revealed its design of a forthcoming office volume in the El Raval district of Barcelona. Totaling nearly 130,000 square feet, the building is conceived to complement the local vernacular, setting a new precedent for positioning modern projects into historic urban fabrics.
The project will distinguish itself with a glass facade bedecked with curved white slats that serve as solar shading to enhance daylight control and thermal comfort. Integrated greenery will soften the exterior, reflecting its environmental sensitivity while further contextualizing the building with its surroundings. A subterranean parking facility will also be a key hallmark of the design. The underground amenity will improve pedestrian circulation, preserve public space, and define the building’s expression at grade through openness and continuity. Sunny interiors will be crafted to support flexibility, comfort, and productivity with material choices and spatial organization emphasizing clarity, efficiency, and adaptability as well.
