The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has unveiled its new Rio de Janeiro headquarters, crafted with a coherent narrative by ARCHITECTS OFFICE (AO) honoring the great legacy of Brazilian soccer. Conceived as the “home of Brazilian football,” the 57,300-square-foot complex is endowed with spaces for engagement and memory-making all linked through an unmistakable visual identity. “The CBF headquarters distinguishes itself by combining the formal rigor of a workplace with the cultural symbolism of football. Unlike generic office renovations, this project integrates national identity, sport, and institutional representation in a subtle but recognizable way,” says AO founder Greg Bousquet. “The intention was to evoke both our culture and the spirit of the game while ensuring an atmosphere of elegance and refinement.”

Motifs and details throughout the design allude to soccer imagery like cleats, balls, and pitch-inspired graphics. A clean canvas of neutral white and beige is offset by green, yellow, and blue finishes in staff hubs that designate work zones and amplify a bit of Brazilian pride through an elegant, contemporary lens. The color-coded hubs are populated with armchairs, coffee stations, and televisions to organize daily routines while also providing space to watch matches and foster community. Smaller hubs for relaxation and informal gathering also abound.

Warm wood imbues a touch of timelessness to the project, while lighting is strategically conceived to highlight rare objets d’art and trophies. Such altars serve as the backdrop for television broadcasts, trading superficial solutions for thoughtful reverence of cultural heritage. “More than finishes, these materials operate as narrative devices,” Bousquet adds. “This design is deeply contextual: it embodies the collective memory of Brazilian football, celebrates its achievements, and strengthens community bonds through spaces that combine functionality with symbolism. At the same time, it introduces an aesthetic prepared for global media visibility, turning the headquarters into a stage capable of sustaining the international spotlight.”
